Philadelphia’s premier all-female tap company, The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble, is pleased to present their annual spring concert “On Tap.” The 60-minute family-friendly concert will include the return of audience favorites plus two featured soloists and the premiere of three new works.
Most notably, the ensemble will premiere work by visiting choreographer Caleb Teicher, a critically-acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in New York City. Teicher began his dance career in 2011 as a founding member of Michelle Dorrance’s celebrated company, Dorrance Dance, and now directs his own Caleb Teicher & Company (CT&Co) combining traditional American dance forms including tap, vernacular jazz, and lindy hop in performances around the world. In a new piece "...and Away." created specifically for The Lady Hoofers, Teicher uses both musical and acapella sections to highlight the crisp, clean sound of the ensemble’s taps.
Seating is general admission and is handicapped accessible. The lobby will open 30 minutes prior to each show featuring snacks, drinks, and The Lady Hoofers merchandise for purchase. The house will open 15 minutes prior to each show for guests to select their seats. Performances will begin promptly; please allow ample time for parking and/or public transportation.
The Performance Garage is located on Brandywine Street between Spring Garden & Green Streets and 15th & 16th Streets. Brandywine Street is one way, running West. Street parking is available as well as several paid self-service lots, and the theatre is accessible by subway or bus.
